The Tunisian Journalist and blogger Slim Boukhdhir [1] was assaulted as he left an Internet café in Tunis after blogging [2] about the responsibility of Houssem Trabelsi [3], brother of Tunisia’s first lady, in the deadly concert stampede [4] in Sfax (Star Academy concert) on 30 April, in which seven young people were killed [5].
After loosing his job [6] as journalist in the “Akhbar Al-Joumhurya” (News of the Republic) newspaper on August 2004, Slim Boukhdhir started blogging [7] on the Arabic Blog Service: Maktoob Blog [8]. He is continuously being harassed, assaulted and threatened by both plain-clothes police and gangsters close to President Ben Ali’s brothers-in-law.
