Syrian Twitter users are reporting that the popular blogging platform WordPress is blocked on ISPs in the country. This move comes amidst a wave of anti-regime protests that's taking the country by storm despite being faced by a brutal governmental crackdown.
Twitter user @firasoo82 exclaimed earlier today:
And user @seemdu confirmed[ar] the report, while at the same time alluding to the fact that many Syrian Internet users are familiar with censorship circumvention tools after years of having some of the most popular websites blocked in the country (e.g. Facebook, Youtube). He said:
It's still not clear if WordPress is blocked on all ISPs in Syria. This article will be updated with the details and screenshots as they become available.
