Dalia Kiakilir

Timorese Language Author & Translator

Dalia was born in Dili, East Timor.

In 1984 she was forced to leave East Timor to go to Portugal with her parents because of the war situation.

She followed her studies at the Higher Institute of Languages ​​and Administration in Lisbon, and currently lives in England and attends City Of Oxford College, the course of Humanities and Social Sciences.

In Portugal was part of the Cultural & Traditional group from Timor-Leste named Tata-Mai-Lau founded by her parents, disseminating the culture of Timor over the world and more importantly spreading the desire for peace and freedom for her country. The group was invited to perform in the Nobel Peace prize award in 1996 for the laureates José Ramos Horta and Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo.

Dalia falls in love with music and writing from an early age and the cultural group was her biggest motivation to continue her artistic career.
